Curtin Choir Performance

This is our first ever Curtin Choir performance. Not bad for a a month's practice. Too bad the mics weren't good so i couldn't pick up the guys voices. Nvm, we can improve! Just need to add more feelings. It feels very robot-ish and sharp though....

Christine~
Yes, i know it has been 2 weeks pass since the Curtin Open Day but here's my review anyway. Sorry for the delay.

I pretty much woke up quite early at around 7am to prepare and warm up my voice. Did the breathing technique and mouth buzzing till i was dizzy. After that i went out and waited with Brenda for the bus. Since it's the 10th anniversary, the event was quite grand. There were two main stages being set up. One in front of the Lecture theater and one in the grand new Multipurpose Hall. Brenda and I had to go to the grander one because of our opening anthems were to be done there in the choir. Most of us was excited and the hall was decorated in the grandest grandeur. All the VIP's were expected to come. As they were very important, they were also very late.

I think punctuality should be displayed in all politicians. Well, let's leave that issue alone. hehe

So most of us were practicisng the anthems and songs, warming up, and "shiok-sendiri" . We camwhored so many times while waiting. We chatted and have fun while waiting for the VVIP's to come. Our malaysian PM did not come because he was only sworn in a day before. Ahh nvm. I will still have my chance to sing at higher stages . So at about 10.30 am ++ the VVIP arrived. Our CM came, Datuk George Chan was there, and the other politicians and chancellors from Curtin Perth. We sang Negaraku and the official Australian Anthem , "Advance Australia Fair". Did you know that there are 3 national anthems for Australia? I bet you didn't. Anyway, we could be called an international choir because of many mixed nationalities. Was quite cool. I think the harmony was perfect but in the end i heard the girls drown the guys because they were nearer to the microphones. It wasn't the sensitive kinds. However, it was a great performance. Our Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean approved our performance. Our Dean has a PHD in music. So if we're good, it must be good. I still think that Curtin Choir can advance more and be better. It's still green.

After the performance, we stayed back and listen to the various speeches and performances. I like the 24 seasons drum performance but than it lacked the stunts sadly. I wonder how would it be like for music in heaven? Would be way cool! After the whole declaration and 10th anniversary speeches and official launching of the biovalley project, we went off to the food fair . I missed the cheerleading performance by my friends!! Anyway, i walked about one round adn then helped in the Geology club stall. I had to wrapped the dim sums all by myself as my senior had to leave fo kl in the afternoon. Mind you, i didn't eat lunch or breakfast and i didn't know how i have the strength to roll the dough, cut, wrap and sell the dim sums. Good thing, Debbie was there to assist me. The dim sums were a hit especially among girls who were more weight conscious. Many of the food out there are oily and our's give a refreshing change. After we finish of wrapping all the dim sums we could i finalyl had the chance to eat. Went with my friends and set at the bench waiting for 5 o'clock to watch the Curtin Idol finals. My friend, Christine, was to perform that evening.

5 o'clock came and we went to watch the performance. In additiont to that, a gust of strong wind and rain had to come along too. The main stage could not be used anymore. however, that did not deter the performance from going on. It was held inside the lecture theater itself. Hundreds of student throng into the hall and snatch seats to watch. In the end , most of them sat on the staircase. Competition was delayed till about 5.45pm because of the technical problems. I think Curtin Idol is better thatn any Malaysian singing competition out there. THere is really a standard when the singing is done. All have the same level of techniques and sound. Highly competitive. I really love the Divine Divas. I heard that the judging was entirely based on voting. So yeah, it's a popularity vote. It's either you have the voice or you have looks and popularity. Some even vote for their friends by paying rm100 (rm1= 1 vote). Christine didn't win but the grand prize went to Divine Divas.

After that got some hair show which i won't elaborate by Alan Hair Salon. If you're really interested in hairstyles then it is for you. But for me it didn't really appeal much. Just that i learn a new techniques to try on my sis. Hehe.

Next was the announcing of the lucky draw winners. Nazri, from my class, won the grand prize of return tickets to Perth Australia. However the airport tax is not included, passport fees, accomodation , and etc... Hence, you're still using a lot of money. Anyway, Still congrats to him!

In the end, the whole Curtin Open Day ended with a Bang! Yes, really a bang coz got fireworks. Later we went and eat supper and i ate my chocolate cake. I wished i was free to roam and explore the whole Curtin and various activities. I wished i wasn't confine to the dim sum stall. Nevermind, at least i did a good deed. Got so many cool activities like WALKING ON WATER! They put like tons of starch ino the water and because it changes the tension of water, you can literally walk on water. As long you don't stand, you can float on the surface for hours. Way cool right! Maybe that was how Jesus and Peter walk on water. Hehe.

Wrapping it all up, a certain question really popped into my heart. While i was in choir practising i was doing foutte pirouttes for fun and then ocasssionally i used my highest falsetto. I BEAT the girls there! hahaha. So i was nicknamed Charlotte Church because i reminded them of her.Anyway, many of them asked me what i am doing here studying this(geology)? I should be studying music and dance somewhere else. Oh well, i also donno either. But i really feel that i wanna minor in music somewhere. I love music and i wish to play in an orchestra or solo performance next time. I must improve my piano!! Or even sing. hehe. Sing as a countertenor.

I'm currently watching the youtube symphony. Oh how i wish i was a part of them!!!

Silver Lining in the darkest Cloud

This past 1 1/2 weeks are the most whirlwind of my life since March. Many challenges and obstacles in life which shapes me to who i am today. It's hard to do this but i will praise God for everything even the bad he had let me conquer. I've learnt many new things and proper mindsets. I guess God is shaking the things i have that have top priorities in my life. Are they constant?

Disappointments i shall turn it into experience, Hurts i shall turn into my strength, Tiredness i will turn it into my endurance, conflicts i shall turn it into a better me. I shall always trust that there is a silver lining behind every dark cloud. It's a matter of choice and not just feelings.

a funny thing happened today: I was suppose to bring my lab coat for the technician briefing. I tried hunting for it in my room but to no avail. It dawned on me that i actually lost it. In addition i have my physics quiz to take care of ; so double the stress! I went to campus and hunted for the lab coat(which i misplaces 4 days ago) at the lost& found, lecture theaters, shuttle bus dropoff and etc but still it was pointless. Disappointed , i let out a desperate prayer to God to help me find it as i don't want to waster Rm80 for a new set just to wear for another 6-7 weeks[i wont' need it for degree].

I decided to put my mind off it and concentrate on my physics quiz which was 5 hours away. Initially, i wanted to go home and perhaps look for the coat, catch some winks and then study at the comfort of my bed. Somehow, i lost track of time and i felt lazy to wait for the shuttle bus. Hence, to the library it is! As we had to put our bags in the locker, the corner of my eye caught on something. I SAW MY LAB COAT! I must have misplaced it there when i was at the library last Tuesday! Haha. Thank goodness i found it. I must thank him for making me lazy at that moment. [note: i am not saying lazyness is gift from god] . However, i still did quite badly in my physics quiz because of placing a negative instead instead of a positive sign instead. You know those chain reaction questions? The one whereby u get one wrong, ur wrong answer is carried out throughout and in the end ur final answer is wrong too? Yeah, it's those kinds.

I had many opportunities to cheat as many did steal a look and erase their previous answers. Some even discussed. But i stand strong. Though i know it many not look good on my final paper. I'm glad i did it honestly. Though i make tons of mistakes i know i will not make the same again and rely on others. I shall be independent!

See, making a choice is important. You may have the nicest results and be proud of it but i shall gloat about my honesty! Haha.

Sudden Insecurity

These few days i've been thinking alot. I wonder the people around me are true friends. For a long time now i hadn't have a real best friend(other than Jesus of course). I just wish there is that someone that i can share my problems with, support each other, pray with each other and etc. I kinda miss that moments i had with a certain someone. Oh God, please sent that somebody

A sudden flood of insecurity came into me just these few days. I felt lonely. Seriously! I know i have friends but i suddenly doubt their sincerity. Sometimes i wish the thought bubbles in the comic books come into life one day. I wish that i could see the people's thoughts about me . I've noticed that hardly anybody starts a conversation with me. I tried not opening my mouth at all and see whether anyone would want to talk with me for a day. About 90% of the conversations i had were either me asking them or cutting into their conversation. I wished i had an eloquency in mandarin. Everyone speaks mandarin. Though i know and understand a little, i feel left out. Really left out. Am i having true friends or am i just "tepuk sebelah tangan"? Did anywhere went wrong? Sigh, only God knows..

Sincerely,
Broken Hearted Anders....

Choir Frenzy

It's just him that is coming...

None other than the Chief Minister of Sarawak.

Datuk Najib can't make it to Curtin because he is swearing in his position this Friday. Instead of Australian Prime Minister, the ambassadors are coming .

Sigh. Nvm, i will still resonate the hall with my voice.
